Register your interestWhat is Pentland Touch?
Pentland Touch is a junior Touch club for children from P3 to S1 in south west Edinburgh. Touch is a fast, non-contact team game, so your child needs no experience and doesn't need to be part of a team. From 2027 there are two blocks a year, one in early summer and one in autumn.
About 50 children played with us in 2026, and three in four were girls.
Primary 3 to Primary 5
Thursdays at Campbell Park, 6.30pm.
Primary 6 to S1
Thursdays at Campbell Park, 7.15pm.
A pathway into Scotland Touch
Most kids come to play with their friends, and we don't select or drop anyone. If your child wants to go further, we're building a pathway into competitive and representative Touch, then the STA Academy and the Scotland youth squads. Our coach Dunkan Armstrong also coaches at the STA Academy, so the link already exists.
Two blocks a year
Registration opens March
Starts the first Thursday after the Easter holidays and runs until the end of the summer term.

Starts the first Thursday after schools go back and runs until late September.
Off-season
No sessions. This is when we take names for the early-summer block.
Got an older player?
We're building a group for S2 and above. When it starts depends on how many names we have, so if your child would like to play, register their interest.
Easy to pick up
Six players a side, you pass backwards, and defenders stop you by touching you. It's easy to learn, and girls and boys play on the same teams.

First three sessions free
STA membership, paid once a year and covering both blocks and all STA events.
Players under 12 pay £20 for early summer, or £35 for both blocks. Players aged 12 and over pay £35 for early summer, or £50 for both blocks. We go by your child's age when the early-summer block starts in April.
Every pound of the block fee stays with Pentland Touch. It pays for your child's coaching and for growing Touch locally, including paying young people to train as coaches and lead sessions alongside our Scotland players.
Questions parents ask
My child has never played. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Most of our players had never played Touch before, and the first few weeks are set up for beginners.
Which group will my child be in?
It depends on their school year when the early-summer block starts in April. They stay in that group for the whole year, even if they move up a year after the summer, for example from P7 to S1. STA competitions use the STA's own age rules.
How long is each session?
About an hour. We'll confirm finish times before the block starts.
What if the weather's bad?
We usually play on. If a session is cancelled, we'll post in the WhatsApp group before you'd need to leave. If there's a yellow weather warning, we cancel. When your child starts coming, we'll ask you to register them and add you to the group.
Can parents stay and watch?
Yes, please do. Parents are welcome to watch and chat at the side of the pitch. On summer evenings it's a good chance to catch up, and plenty of parents have got to know each other that way.
Can they come with a friend?
Yes. Tell us on the form and we'll put them on the same team.
How do we pay?
By bank transfer. The first three sessions are free, and we'll send you our bank details after that.
Is there help if cost is a barrier?
Yes. Get in touch privately and we'll sort something out. We don't want any child to miss out because of money.
