Rugby, minus the contact. Touch is six-a-side, backwards passes only, touch not tackle, and mixed teams – no experience needed and no kit beyond trainers. If you’ve never played, any of the clubs above will take you through it on your first session.

Is touch rugby the same as tag rugby? They’re close cousins – both are non-contact, but touch has its own rules and its own pathway through to Scotland squads via the STA Academy, which tag doesn’t. Do I need experience? No. Every club on this page welcomes complete beginners, and coaching is PVG-checked through Scottish Touch. Is there touch rugby for kids in Edinburgh? Yes – Total Touch Academy (ages 7-11) and Pentland Touch Juniors (P3-S1) both run dedicated youth sessions, and In2Touch also runs a youth league at Inverleith Park.
