International Youth

Scotland's youth Touch Rugby teams proudly compete on the international stage in tournaments like the European Youth Touch Championship (EYTC) and the Atlantic Youth Touch Cup (AYTC). These events showcase the incredible talent of our young players, who develop their skills and passion through the Scottish Touch Academy—a structured pathway from regional sessions to high-performance training and national representation.

Pathway to Scottish Touch Academy

  1. Regional Sessions and Taste of Touch:
Our coaches run regional training sessions and Taste of Touch events, introducing new players to the sport and helping existing players further their skills in a supportive and fun environment.
  2. Club Participation:
Youth players are encouraged to join local Touch Rugby clubs, where they can develop foundational skills and gain valuable match experience.
  3. Academy Trials:
Based on their performance and potential, players will be invited to participate in trials for the Scottish Touch Academy. These trials assess players’ abilities and suitability for the high-performance environment of the Academy. Trials will be conducted for the following age groups: U15s, U18s, and U20s.

Player eligibility is determined by their age as of 31st December of the previous year. For more details about international events and competitions, visit the Federation of International Touch page:

    • U15s: must be under 15 and over 12 on the 31st Dec of the previous year
    • U18s: must be under 18 and over 14 on the 31st Dec of the previous year
    • U20s: must be under 20 and over 16 on the 31st Dec of the previous year
  4. High-Performance Training:
Successful trialists become part of the Academy’s high-performance squads, training once a month under the guidance of experienced coaches. This training focuses on advanced skills, tactics, and physical conditioning to prepare players for elite competition.
  5. National Representation:
Players who excel within the high-performance squads will be selected to represent Scotland in international competitions, such as the Federation of International Touch (FIT) Youth events, including the Atlantic Youth Touch Cup (AYTC) or the European Youth Touch Championship (EYTC)
